I saw something similar over a year ago at MacWorld - it wasn't quite as cool... 1) The screen was not the touchpad - instead, the touchpad was still separate, but, on the screen, you saw "shadows" that showed where fingers were touching, to show you what you were controlling.
2) The demo was for something like Illustrator, it demonstrated picking up one object with a finger and moving it; picking up two objects simultaneously with two different fingers and moving them in different directions; and picking up one object with two fingers, then using the fingers to rotate the object.
Not as cool as this demo - with the fingers on the screen, and scaling the photos. WOW.
